Operation - Clutter Free Classroom!

One of the teacher blogs I read, The Clutter Free Classroom, recently encouraged all teachers to join her in the Clutter-Free Classroom Project.

I am participating in the linky party here
The first week's challenge is to take "before" pictures of the space you want to organize.  Let me start out by saying there are so many things about my new classroom that I love (I moved down the hall this year), but there are many areas that I still need to work on.  Here are those scary before pictures!

Here is the bookshelf behind my desk.  I really need to go through all those binders and store/get rid of things I don't use.

Here is my closet.  If it was organized better, I could store a lot more things in here that I don't need to see or use on an everyday basis.

Here is another shelf with teacher books and resources.  I need to go through and get rid of ones I don't use.

I organized this shelf earlier this year and all the materials in the bottom squares are for word work.  I'm not sure if I'm completely happy with it yet.

Here is my math manipulative corner.  I'm not happy with my work station storage and also I'm not sure how I want to organize the rest of the manipulatives.
So there you have it!  My "before" pictures!  I'll be back in a few days with pictures of the things in my room that I am absolutely happy with and proud of!  Not everything is a "before" shot! :)  When looking over these pictures, I am most excited about cleaning out my binders and other teacher resources.  It is just an eyesore.  I can't wait to get started!

What are your New Year's resolutions?  Will you be organizing, too?

  6. Cute classroom! I'm so glad to find someone who has similar closet issues--although yours looks much better than mine. I'm looking at adding hooks to the inside of my cupboard so I can hang things like my purse, jacket, etc. I hope it works!
